Terms and Conditions

Translations

1. Estimates

a) An estimate is not a firm quote, unless otherwise specified.
b) A price per word and a delivery date will be quoted after sight of the text to be translated.
c) An estimate is valid for 6 months.

2. Orders

a) A written order quoting the estimate number must be submitted before work can begin on the translation.
b) Orders may be sent by e-mail, fax or post.
c) By placing a firm order, the client agrees to these Terms and Conditions.

3. Invoicing

a) The number of words to be invoiced is taken from the French text to be translated (MS Word statistics).  Where this is difficult to establish (e.g. text supplied on paper), the number of words will be taken from the English translation and a correction factor of up to 15% may be added to account for the difference in length between the two languages.  This will be mentioned on the invoice.
b) Urgent translations requiring night or weekend working will be subject to a 50% supplement.  This will be mentioned on the invoice.
c) VAT not applicable: article 293B of the CGI (French Tax Code).

4. Payment

a) Payment is due on receipt of the invoice, unless otherwise specified.
b) Payment may be made by:  (i) cheque made payable to "Lesley Clayton".
                                              (ii) bank transfer.
                                             (iii) international money order.
                                             (iv) electronic payment through moneybookers.com .

5. Complaints

a) Any complaint or query must be made within 14 days of delivery.  After this date, it is considered that the translation has been accepted as correct.
b) Differing opinions of style are not grounds for complaint.

6. Liability

a) In case of litigation, Lesley Clayton's liability is limited to the amount of the relevant invoice.
b) Lesley Clayton cannot be held responsible for delivery delays caused by circumstances beyond her control (e.g. illness or accident, breakdown in communication or power lines etc.).

7. Miscellaneous

Confidentiality of content will be strictly respected.
